About A Discogram

Also referred to as discography, a discogram is a diagnostic test that evaluates the intervertebral discs of the spine to identify if there is any type of injury to one or more of these areas. Often, it is reserved for patients who have had long-term discomfort with no noticeable relief after conventional procedures. Dissimilar to a regular physical examination, a discogram can offer a comprehensive view of the spine to determine the extent of damage and the exact location of the pain. Our team of pain management experts at Tricity Pain Associates utilizes discogram diagnostic testing to identify the underlying cause of your pain and discomfort. To learn more, we encourage you to contact our San Antonio, TX facility to schedule your initial consultation.

What to Expect

Provided on-site at our San Antonio facility, a discogram takes about 30 minutes to an hour to complete. To begin your examination, you will lie still on your stomach on an x-ray table as we inject the contrast dye into the specific spinal disc(s). With the use of state-of-the-art x-ray technology, we will take comprehensive images of your spine to determine any areas where damage or a fracture may exist. Following your discogram, you may need to be monitored for a period of time before you are able to return home. You may also notice some slight soreness at or around the injection site(s), but this should alleviate in a couple of days.

To schedule your discogram procedure, contact Tricity Pain Associates in San Antonio, TX. We look forward to helping you experience relief from pain and discomfort.
